The National Bank of Georgia held its monetary policy rate at 8.25% on 21 October, the third consecutive decision at that level after 29 July and 9 September. That is above the 8.00% at which both 2024 and 2025 closed.

The inflation picture leaves little room to move. Annual inflation was 5.6% in August, marginally above 5.5% in July and below 5.8% in June — three months within a narrow band, with no clear direction in either direction.

Growth is the stronger part of the week's picture. Real GDP grew 9.0% in the first quarter of 2026 on provisional Geostat data, after provisional readings of 6.7% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and 6.4% in the third quarter. All three are provisional and may be revised.

The lari was quiet across the three sessions shown: the dollar stood at 2.5971 on 24 October against 2.5976 on 22 October, while the euro eased to 2.9090 from 2.9163.
